Buy vs Bought is an online grammar exercise to help participants practice and master the difference between buying something in the present or in the past. Learning and recognizing the differences between these two past-tense verbs is essential for sentence construction and perfecting English grammar. There are two versions for this exercise; one for Past Simple and one for Past Perfect. In the Past Simple exercise, buy is used to indicate that an action happened without specifying when it happened, while bought is used when speaking of a specific past event. For example; ‘I bought a new dictionary yesterday’. In the Past Perfect exercise, buy is used in the if clause, while bought is used in the main clause. For example; ‘If I bought all the books, I could start reading’. Practicing with this exercise helps participants to understand how and when to use buy vs bought in the English language.
